two thousand and ten in a nutshell

2010 was full of so many memories; good, bad, scary, hilarious, exciting, and sad.
I have grown ten-fold in the last 365 days.

Let's start at the beginning..

January: I was a barely 17 year old moving out on my own, attending college full-time, working part-time, and playing too much. January was the beginning of some great times. Snowmobiling, working on trucks with the boys, going to Lava Hot Springs, making memories with my roommates, going on dates, learning about living in the "real world", taking on a ton of responsibility, and realizing that I am in charge of myself and where I go in my life.

February: I played way too much, school was becoming less of a big deal, I met someone who would change my life (though I didn't know it yet), I had made so many new friends, I was loving being on my own, but I was starting to find out how hard life can get. I drove to St. Anthony almost every night to hang out with the boys, and we had too many good times to count.

March: Everything was slowly, but surely, starting to change this month. That someone who I had only met a month prior, became someone I was talking to (texting) on a daily basis, skyping, and asking for advice. Although he was at home, and I was at school, we became really close friends. The social aspect of my life became way too important to me, and my grades showed it.

April: My life really changed. I can't really explain it all without people feeling bad, so yeah. Basically I made a dumb choice, and it changed every thing in my life. After that moment, nothing would be the same again. Most people wouldn't think it would make a difference, but for me it did. And honestly, I wouldn't be where I am right now if I hadn't. Although feelings were hurt, tears were shed, and people became angry, I don't regret it. I moved back home, and I was figuring out what I needed to do for the next semester. I felt like I should move into a new apartment complex, so that is what I did. I had some fun roommates, and finally met that someone in person. Me and my roommates had some good times, well, when I was actually home.

May: That someone started becoming my best friend. We hung out all the time, going on drives, going on dates, going long boarding, and just getting to know each other. So fun! I starting working 30+ hours a week, I started trying harder to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, I lost friends, I cried a lot, I prayed more, I become closer to my Heavenly Father, I found out that people lie no matter who it hurts, and my new life was starting.
June: Life was getting crazy, fun, exciting, and frustrating. I knew what I needed to do, but I just couldn't get myself to do it. I started questioning what I should be doing at this point in my life, and I was going through the hardest time in my life so far. My family and best friends were telling me what I should do, but I didn't listen (I wish I would have now ha).

July: My best friend moved home to get ready to serve his mission, I decided to transfer schools, I moved back home, I quit my job, my brother came home from his mission, and I became an auntie. Needless to say, a lot changed this month.

August: My best friend left on his mission, I started becoming better friends with Stephen, I looked more into the other school I was going to go to, decided against it, and decided to go back to BYU-I. I started looking to find another job, I was hanging out with Stephen a lot, and was figuring out what I wanted to go into.

September: Not too much happened this month, life was going by just fine, I hung out with Stephen and Jake on a daily basis, and I was making new friends.
October: I basically sat at home every day, cleaning the house doing laundry, all that fun stuff, then at night I would hang out with Beth, Felicia, or the boys. I had an awesome Halloween, and loved the start of missionary Mondays.

November: I finally turned the big 1-8, and I had an amazing birthday! Read about it's awesomeness here and here and here. Basically I went to two amazing concerts with my best friends, and they threw me an awesome surprise party!

December: I got a job nannying, I made some awesome memories with my family, drove on some terrifying roads, and started getting ready for another year at college.
Thank you everyone who was involved this year, I love you all.

I can't wait to see where 2011 will take me!
Happy New Year! almost.
hugs and kisses,
elise

  2. This year has been crazy and has sure gone by fast. We are still too young and have a lot to learn but we wouldn't grow if we didn't have trials. Life can be sticky at times but you've just gotta learn and make the most of it. I'm happy to see that your year got better at the last half. :)
